Tawk.to Optimizer & Editor is a super simple plugin that optimizes your website's speed significantly by switching out your Tawk.to chat with a preloader that only loads Tawk.to after the preloader is clicked. If a visitor starts a conversation and navigates away from the page where the conversation began, the plugin intelligently understands that there's an active conversation and will keep the Tawk.to chat loaded across the website.
Tawk.to Optimizer & Editor Configuration
Important: To avoid conflicts, ensure the Tawk.to chat script doesn't exist anywhere else on your website. Deactivate the Tawk.to Live Chat plugin or find where the Tawk.to chat script may exist otherwise.
- 1. Login to your Tawk.to dashboard
- 2. From the top bar, navigate to Administration (the gear icon)
- 3. Left sidebar > Channels > Chat Widget (the default page after clicking Channels)
- 4. Under Direct Chat Link, copy everything after "https://tawk.to/chat/" - you should copy something that looks like this: 2fh48284224882du3d8/83ehd
- 5. In the Tawk.to Optimizer & Editor WordPress plugin settings on your website, paste what you copied into the Tawk.to Script Source URL field
- 6. Save Changes
Styling
Tawk.to Optimizer & Editor is pre-configured with styling, but if you have basic HTML/CSS knowledge, you can edit the preloader completely. Edit colours, spacing, image, SVG, bubble text, everything. You have complete control.
Ensure you save your changes after every edit and that you clear/purge your cache if you use a caching plugin.
Known Issues
- - Optimizer won’t allow some chat analytics, like visitors, live monitoring, etc, unless the chat is clicked
- - Optimizer won’t allow chatbots that initialize without chat interaction, like custom messages that appear after duration, on certain pages, etc
